Las Ahijaderus is nine miles south west of the historic city of Salamanca and is reached by a comfortable three hours’ drive from Madrid.
Originally set up by Alfonso Fabres Sr over 25 years ago, his son Alfonso Fabres Jr has followed in his footsteps and now accompanies and hosts the majority of shooting parties.
The season runs from mid August until the end of April.
Shooting
The shooting is all in one area and is reached by a short 20 minute drive from Las Ahijaderus.
The shooting is in rolling hill terrain making for exciting shooting by any standard. Much like partridge shooting in the UK, some birds choose to hug the contours while others rocket skywards. Either way, there is plentiful and sporting shooting for all tastes.
As is typical of much shooting in Spain, the Fabres family choose to shoot using screens of brush to prevent partridges from seeing the line of guns. Much the same way as we would use a grouse butt.
Four or five drives during the day is the norm depending on the anticipated bag, and lunch is usually in the shoot room close to the shooting.
Food and Lodging
Las Ahijaderus with its 14 en-suite bedrooms offers comfortable accommodation for a private shooting party.
The rooms are yards from the main house where shooting guests have breakfast and dinner. The large collection of trophies, housed in the living room, is proof of the Fabres family’s dedication to shooting tradition.
Why we rate it
