Jacana Lodge

Jacana Lodge is in Lincoln, in the province of Buenos Aires, 300 km from the capital itself.

The area features numerous lakes, ponds and splashes which are frequented by as many as a dozen different duck species during the winter months of May to August.

It takes 4½ hours to drive to Jacana Lodge over good roads and through rural country.

As an option, groups may choose to charter directly to the landing strip at Lincoln, a journey of about one hour.

Shooting

Jacana Lodge specialises in duck shooting over decoys both in the morning and afternoon. Morning flights mean leaving the lodge in the dark after an early breakfast.

Driving times vary depending on water conditions but range from 10 to 45 minutes.

Guns are placed in dry blinds. these are either large, dry sunken barrels or platform-pallet blinds.

Shooting over decoys starts at first light and continues until about 10am. On most days, guns return to the lodge for lunch and a siesta before an afternoon departure at about 3pm for evening flights which last until dark.

There are a number of duck species in the low pampas or wetlands of Argentina. The most commonly seen ducks are the rosy-billed pochard, followed closely by the yellow-billed pintail, the white-cheeked pintail, silver teal, cinnamon teal, speckled teal, white-faced whistling duck, and several others.

Food and Lodging

Jacana Lodge has five double rooms with ensuite bathrooms and can cater for up a maximum of ten guns.

As you would expect of any first-class shooting lodge, there is a sitting room, bar area and dining room.

Attentive staff, and meals featuring some of the beef and wines that Argentina is famous for, complete the picture.
